Yangon to Celebrate Sister City Event with Light Festival


Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city and former capital, will celebrate a Yangon-Fukuoka sister city event with a light festival.

The light festival will feature decorative lighting and Fukuoka’s food and cuisine. The event will be organized in Maha Bandula Park near Sule Pagoda from December 7 to 25, 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. The opening ceremony will be held on December 7 at 5:30-6:00 p.m.

The visitors can enjoy food offered in Fukuoka city as well as beautifully decorated lights, Japanese drum dances, and ramen noodles.

Fukuoka and Yangon signed the sister cities agreement in December 2016 and the event is being held to deepen shared understanding between the people of the two cities and show mutual friendship.
